The Role

This is a new position that will be based at our site in Spalding. Lincolnshire.  As Trainee Laboratory Technician you will carry out and prepare test substances for dilutions in liquid and plant form as well as providing complete documentary evidence of tasks performed.

The role is an entry level, laboratory opportunity suited to anyone looking to start or resume their career in science who has, or will expect to receive in Summer 2022, an A-level or HNC in chemistry or closely related science such as Biology.  The successful candidate must have excellent attention to detail, is proactive and most importantly has a   can-do attitude.


Job Duties include, but are not limited to:

>  Preparation of test/sample items in accordance with SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures).

>  Conduct small internal research projects following GLP (Good Laboratory Practice).

>  Keep detailed records of batches and control their use using GLP.

>  Operation of HPLC, GC-MS, GC-FID and LC-MS analytical equipment following SOP’s.

>  Maintaining work schedules as appropriate.

>  Maintaining lab stock levels of laboratory essentials eg. materials, solution and PPE.

>  Regular calibration and cleaning checks of ancillary laboratory equipment.

>  General laboratory housekeeping and maintenance protocols.


Education, Experience & Attributes required

>  A level or HNC in Chemistry (or related subject with chemistry background).

>  Any experience working in a lab (previously in academia or professionally) is desirable but not essential.

>  Willingness to learn and to work efficiently within a hardworking multifunctional team.

>  Someone who has a passion for science and plants.

>  Honest, friendly, approachable and a good team member.

>  Good Level of IT literacy including Microsoft Office packages and databases.

>  Resourceful and entrepreneurial with problem-solving skills.

>  Proactive with a ‘can do’ attitude.

>  Excellent time management, organisational and interpersonal skills.

>  Meticulous attention to detail.
