The Role
This role gives the successful candidate an opportunity to work within a small team being led by an experienced Professor in novel extraction and purification techniques for a wide range of botanical extracts. As a member of the Technical Department, you will work closely with the Commercial and Innovation Teams as they develop new functional ingredients to ensure the appropriate rigor and quality is provided by the analytical team.
As an Analytical Chemist you will have the responsibility to process, test and validate a range of innovative products using analytical equipment including HPLC, GC-MS, GC-FID and LC-MS.
Job Duties include, but are not limited to:
Routine use of HPLC and GC equipment for the testing and quantification of plant and process yields.
Ensure sample preparations are carried out effectively following written standard operating procedures.
Research and devise experimental planning for the appropriate analysis of a range of products and to quantify their chemical properties.
Support the commercial teams and the functions across the business in relation to extraction techniques, and proposed product formulations and use.
Good presentation skills are required to present orally and also written reports.
Responsible for checking stock of consumables and ensure orders are placed as required.
Able to maintain good laboratory housekeeping whilst working in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
Education, Experience & Attributes required
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry or Chemical engineering. Other STEM subjects may be considered.
Someone who has a passion for science and plants.
Honest, friendly, approachable and good team member.
Good Level of IT literacy including Microsoft Office packages and databases
Resourceful and entrepreneurial with problem-solving skills.
Proactive with a ‘can do’ attitude.
Excellent time management, organisational and interpersonal skills.
